Job Mail privacy policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

Job Mail is a small script that runs on one private computer. It is not a public service. Nobody can sign up for it; it is set up by hand for one person, who grants it access to their own Gmail account.

What it reads from Gmail

With the gmail.readonly permission it searches the inbox for job-alert emails from LinkedIn, Indeed and Handshake, and reads the job title, company, location and link in each one. It does not read other mail.

What it sends

With the gmail.send permission it sends one email, twice a day, to the account owner's own address. The email lists job postings and attaches resume PDFs. It sends nothing to anyone else.

Where the data goes

Alert contents and the access token are stored only on the computer that runs the script. To suggest which resume bullets to put first for a posting, the script sends the job title, company, the public job description and the resume text to the Anthropic API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms that data is not used to train models. No Gmail message is sent anywhere else.

The data is not sold, not shared with advertisers and not used for any purpose other than the email described above.

Job Mail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Stopping it

The account owner can remove access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. On request, the stored token and the saved alert data are deleted from the computer.
